Attack on temple, houses, Seven held
NEMOM: Seven persons have been held by the Balaramapuram police for attacking the Poonkode Mullavila Devi Temple and some houses nearby. Those held have been identified as Praveen, Kuyil Sura, Sudhi, Biju, Saji, Shankaran and Ramesh.
The 50-member gang carried out the attack on the temple and thirty houses at about 10 pm yesterday night. Not only that, the gang also destroyed the maruti car owned by Rajesh of Marutharavilakom House, hacked the mike operator and destroyed a bike too.
Three persons injured in the scuffle have been admitted to the taluk hospital in Neyyattinkara.
Sub inspector S Ajaya Kumar said the arrested persons have been involved in many other petty and theft cases.
The residents association here staged a march to the police station in protest against the attack.
