Attack on Sabarimala pilgrims; Hindus demolished the Hotel

via HK published on November 19, 2011

On 18 November, 2 pilgrims from Tamil Nadu were attacked at a wayside shop in T.B. Junction near Punalur when they questioned about the exorbitant prices the shop owner has been demanding. Two of the pilgrims sustained injuries in the attack who were later treated at Punalur Taluk hospital.  Last year also pilgrims were attacked at T.B Junction and the Hindu organizations have demanded for stern action against those mounting attacks on the pilgrims.

BJP, Viswa Hindu Parishad and Hindu Aikyavedi activists took out a procession in Punalur Town demanding police vigil against such crimes and to investigate whether the growing presence of Popular Front in the area has any relevance to such incidents since there have been news about their training camps operating in this area.

Organizations those harbor the Muslim fanatics have been masterminding such attacks on Sabarimala pilgrims during the past few years.  They are unable to stomach the change thatengulfs Kerala and the neighboring states during Sabarimala season. In spite of all their covert and avert actions, they fail to understand and digest the kind of euphoria prevalent in all walks of life of Kerala during the pilgrim season. Their business on fish, meat and sale in non-vegetarians hotels record a fall during the pilgrim season since large number of devotees and common man relish the `Kanji Sadya’ provided in almost every temple and the families go for vegetarian food during the season. So, no wonder that they try to create problems during the season and very often target the pilgrims from other state.

It is a welcome measure that the Hindu organization reacted immediately and at Punalur they have demolished that wayside hotel where the pilgrims were attacked.
