One held for raping 11-yr-old

KOZHIKODE: The police on Thursday took a person into custody for allegedly raping a minor girl at Kodampuzha near Ramanattukara. The Feroke police have registered a case against Ashraf, 40, son of Hyder, Punathil House, Kodampuzha.

According to the police, the incident came to light when the victim’s parents took her to a hospital at Feroke for medical check-up, following illness and unusual behaviour, on Wednesday. The doctors, in their preliminary examination found that the girl was raped.

During interrogation, the girl admitted that she was raped by Ashraf, when there was no one else in her house on June 16. Police, based on her statement, took Ashraf in custody for questioning. The accused will be produced before court after medical examination on Friday.
