Arms and Ammunition being Shipped to Kerala via Toys

published on December 8, 2014

Thrissur: The latest Central Intelligence Agencies reports have testified large scale smuggling of arms and ammunition from foreign shores to Kerala under the guise of importing toys and toy guns. The arms and ammunition are believed to be sent via cargo en-masse. Investigations on this front have been strengthened.

Reports also suggest that arms are being smuggled in the form of air guns as well. It has also been gathered that these air guns which come as toys are being dismantled and assembled into regular machinery.Sources have confirmed reports that recent arms training camps conducted by anti-national elements in forest regions of India have
their machinery supplied this way. Reports confirm the hands of a communal anti national organization having deep roots in Kerala behind the entire operations. The group is said to have aligned with other terror organizations and spearheading the import of arms and ammunition this way.

Earlier these weapons were brought to Kerala from China via Myanmar. But with a strict vigil over those paths making it impossible for any further transactions, organizations discovered these as new methods of transport.

Sources have also reported a link between the arms shipment and Thrissur, with Chavakkad being a focal point. A person hailing from Chavakkad is under surveillance for having indulged in suspected arms smuggling via cargo, a few years ago.
