Aravana Patent- TDB to act upon HAV’s plea
Kochi: HAV Leader Shri Kummanam Rajasekharan’s exposure regarding the ill motives behind the move of a Singapore Company to earn the Patency on ‘Arawana’,ringed alarming bells in TDB.
Newly elected TDB members were busy in sorting out their infightings and ego clashes and while talking to Media Devaswom Commissioner C G Sachidananthan told ‘‘The TDB was unaware of the move of the Singapore-based company to get arawana as their trademark. From the days of the kings the aravana was prepared by Sabarimala temple authorities and it was served as prasadam. Later, it spread to other temples. So we will apply for the patent of aravana payasam,’’
The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) has decided to raise formal objection against the Singapore- based company, Kuok Oils and Grains PTE Ltd from getting the trade mark ‘Arawana’.
Shri Kummanam Rajasekharan had exposed this move with full proof in his Press Meet last week. The notification about the trademark was published in Trade Mark Journal and was made available to the public on March 29 and the last date for filing any objection to the allocation of the name will end on June 29.
The Singapore- based company, Kuok Oils and Grains PTE Ltd applied for the trade mark under various classes in which Class 29 covers shellfish, fish/food products made from fish, preserved meat, meat extracts etc.
