‘Aranyakam – One crores trees for the world’ project begins

KOCHI: ‘Aranyakam – One crore trees for the world,’ a novel venture of critic M K Harikumar, began at Agasthyasram at Kurikkad in Tripunithura on Thursday.

The project plans to propagate the message of universal love epitomised in the secular and humanistic existence of trees.

Harikumar and asram President V K Prabhakaran planted a sapling to mark the beginning of Aranyakam in the asram.

Vice-President Padmapadhan Pillai was also present. The asram is planning to plant 250 trees as part of the project.

The state-level inauguration of the project was held on June 6 at Aluva Advaithasram.

It was followed by the planting of trees in Thrissur. The project was also initiated in Karnataka by Bangalore Garden City College. The project aims to plant one crore trees across the six continents of the globe in the coming years.
