Thiruvananthapuram: A petition has been submitted to the governor of Kerala P Sadasivam, seeking to prosecute the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who went out of the way to assist KGS Group regarding the matter of Aranmula Airport project. The petition has been handed over to the governor by chief convenor of Aranmula Paithrukagrama Karma Samiti Kummanam Rajashekharan.

The petition points out that “the Chief Minister went out of the way to proceed with the project, overriding the decision taken by Principle/ Principal Secretary of Environmental Department on 22 June 2012.”

“All documents related to the same have also been handed over to the government, following which he has promised a response after careful study of the matter,” said Kummanam Rajashekharan, adding that further decisions regarding the matter will be taken after hearing from the Governor.

“Since it has come to light that the permission granted by the defence ministry was made after pressure from AK Anotony, former Defence Minister, a statement should be taken from Antony as well,” said Kummanam.

The NDA government had annulled the permission granted for Aranmula Airport, taking into account the mass uprising by people of the tiny hamlet against the land mafia backed project.
