BJP comes out against UDF, LDF

Pioneer News Service | Thiruvananthapuram

State BJP general secretary MT Ramesh has accused the LDF and the UDF of conspiring to derail the probe into the Sr Abhaya murder case.

Ramesh told mediapersons here on Wednesday that the rival fronts had made a conscious effort to hush up the details of the inquiry.

He alleged the silence of Opposition Leader Oommen Chandy and the Home Department on the developments in the case was mysterious.

He demanded the Government to expel chief chemical examiner R Geetha and analyst M Chitra in the wake of the court direction to register case against them on the charges of forging the chemical examination report of Sr Abhaya.

He further said that though the local police, Crime Branch and the CBI investigated the case, they could not find out the anomalies in the report. It was proof that they had not examined the report seriously.

The Sister Abhaya case has taken a turn and the stunning revelation from the Forensic Science laboratory of Hyderabad that discrepancies were conducted in the chemical report of Abhaya’s body has pointed the accusations towards the chief chemical examiner.

The forensic science lab at Hyderabad had conducted the study on the entries from Q1 to Q12 of the Sister Abhaya’s body parts and of these 12 records 8 were found to have been tampered with. Even the record that the internal organs had human sperm was tampered with and the records had shown that there were no sperms.

Ramesh charged that the inquiry had been going on for the past 15 years without any breakthrough and added that both the fronts had ruled the State in succession and nothing concrete has come out from these fronts in this case.

He accused the chief chemical examiner of tampering with reports in favour of the CPI(M) and cited the death of three ABVP activists at Parumala as a case in point. She had done it not on her own but had political support.

Ramesh alleged that Geetha had tampered with the report to help the CPI(M). He demanded an investigation into all examinations done by Geetha.

Ramesh said that there was a conspiracy to upset the eviction of encroachments in Munnar. Though Achuthanandan had described the eviction and demolition of unauthorised structures as a great movement, the special team had not taken any action against the CPI and the CPI(M), which had encroached on revenue land and raised unauthorised structures.

The eviction process had slowed down following the visit of Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan to Munnar, he said.
