An Uproar if HC Directive on Aranmula is not Implemented: Kummanam.

published on July 23, 2014
Aranmula PaithrukaGrama Karma Samiti convenor Kummanam Rajashekharan has warned of a mammoth uproar and remonstration by the inhabitants, if the court order on Aranmula is not implemented. The High Court had directed that the streams and rivulets which suffered massive destruction with the commencing of work for the controversial Greenfield Airport Project, be restored.

“The deadline set by the Court is 26 and that is almost coming to a close. Therefore the District Collector must intervene in this matter. A criminal case should be initiated against those who were responsible for the disruption of the place’s fragility,” stated Kummanam Rajashekharan. The Paithrukagrama Karma Samiti had come to the Collectorate to give a petition against the permission granted towards KGS group for hearing their side against removing the filled mud.

“There should be no discussion with those who were responsible for filling the rivulets and streams, destroying the ecological fragility. KGS now stands as wrongdoer. Linking KGS in this case will now stand beneficial for them. Those accountable for reclaiming the land should be responsible for restoring it too. They should be fined for this too,” observed Kummanam.

“The railways had expressed desire to remove soil from the controversial place. They were agreeable in taking a sizable bulk. However, they said there were technical difficulties regarding the same- the difficulties stated were that the lorries that were meant to take the soil had to pass through the land owned by KGS Group. But the controversial land is currently not under the ownership of KGS Group,” pointed out Kummanam Rajashekharan.

Kummanam also contended that the 232 acres of surplus land declared by Land Revenue Board should be divided among the landless.
