Thiruvananthapuram:
The dawn-to-dusk hartal in Kerala on Friday, called by the NDA against price
rise, was total and generally peaceful despite some minor incidents. Shops
remained closed almost all over the State and vehicles kept off the roads

BJP
workers had taken out demonstrations in all the district headquarters by noon.
The demonstration from East Fort to the State Secretariat at Thiruvananthapuram
was inaugurated by BJPState general secretary
MT Ramesh. Ramesh said the UPA Government at the Centre was doing nothing to
control the rising prices.

He said the measures
announced by the Central Government with the aim of controlling prices were not
effective in making any result in the present situation. He said the Government
was refusing to take measures on a war footing to control prices.

Ramesh said that the LDF
Government in Kerala also was not serious about controlling the rising prices.
He alleged that Kerala was the only State in the country which was yet to
implement the food security programme.

He said instead of doing
something concrete to alleviate the suffering of the people, the Ministers in
the VS Achuthanandan Cabinet were quarrelling among themselves.
