A fast track court in Kottayam has awarded life sentence to Pastor Rajan C George in the notorious acid attack case of 2010, which resulted in the death of the victim.

Pronouncing the verdict, Justice VC Cherian of fast track court (2) also slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 on the accused. The pastor is accused to have killed Shiela, hailing from Mananthavadi, Wayanad.

The pastor is said to have attacked the deceased Shiela, with acid following a squabble related to money matters. Even though the victim was rushed to Kozhikode Medical Hospital, she succumbed to her injures 23 days later.

Rajan George was pastor of Bethel, Mammood in Changanassery.
