PALAKKAD: ABVP activists staged a demonstration here on Wednesday urging President A P J Abdul Kalam not to grant clemency to Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist Mohammed Afzal who was sentenced to death in the Parliament attack case.

The march began from Government Victoria College amidst chanting of slogans against anti-national forces and ended at the Head Post Office. The march was led by ABVP district joint convenor Hariprasad, Sabarisan and Santhosh.

They also posted 250 postcards to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, urging the President not to grant clemency to Afzal.

Later, inaugurating a public meeting, ABVP district organising secretary O. Sudheesh said the nation should always remember that jawans had laid down their lives for protecting Parliament.

The granting of clemency would amount to belittling their sacrifice
