A Question to comrades born to Hindu parents – Why your leaders deride Hindu Epics but not Qur’an?
Kozhikode: The intent of the Marxists new found love for cultural aspects of India seems paradoxical with ideologues of the red brigade using their Ramayana seminar for denigrating the Ramayana and Bhagavad Geetha. Marxist think tanks like KEN Kunju Mohammed and Dr KN Ganesh have used the opportunity to unleashed slander on the sacred epics which are revered not only by Hindus, but also scores of others who follow different religions.
According to Kunju Mohammed, it is “cultural slavery†that makes “upholders of democracy in India present copies of Bhagavad Geetha†to their foreign counterparts “as they make foreign toursâ€.However Kunju Mohammed, like all Marxists, seems to suffer selective amnesia as he conveniently forgot a leaf from the pages Communist history, when former Chief Minister E K Nayanar presented the Pope a copy of the holy text as he visited Vatican.
Kunju Mohammed’s statement seems all the more incongruous as they were uttered at the Ramayana seminar conducted by Marxists. Referring to “those who handed over Bhagavad Geetha as gift, as being slavish to cultural supremacy, Mohammed went a step further and stated that “books fit for secular reading should be handed over as giftsâ€.
Ridiculing cultural observances of the country like splitting coconuts before commencing on any auspicious tasks, Mohammed wondered how “the Kerala which once endorsed Keshav Dev’s clarion call for burning Ramayanam could now clamour for the sameâ€.
It could be the Islamist’s jitteriness and dread over the might of the awakening Hindu that was reflected in Mohammed’s speech, when he referred to the resurgence of Ramayana as “loss of secular readingâ€.
Statements of Mohammed, like calling for the “implementation of progressive literature will ensure that our literature does not remain stranded and stuck between Rama and Seethaâ€, “Kerala must get rid of its past which has not yielded any congenial result†reek of an Islamist fundamentalist, who even questioned aloud if lighting the sacred lamp is a cultural symbol!
Another Marxist who joined the tirade against the sacred texts was Dr KN Ganesh, who stated that “Ramayana fell into the genres of a romantic comedy thriller, not to be fit part of Indian cultureâ€. Referring to Thunjathu Ezhuthachan’s ‘Adhyatma Ramayana’ as a dump piece, the Red Brigade member seemed clueless why the eminent poet translated the grand epic to Malayalam!
Deriding the father of Malayalam, Ganesh said that “the translated version was nothing but a series of chants†and that he was elevated to the level of Ezhuthachan even though he belonged to a family of Chakkala Nair, only because he knew the art of reading and writing.
