1. What is Athirathram?
Athirathram is an ancient vedic ritual of twelve days, consisting of homas and
vedic chanting. Athirathram is considered as the ultimate invocation of Vedic
scriptures for universal harmony.

2. What is Varthathe?

Varthathe Trust is based in Ottapalam, Palakkad district, Kerala. The Trust has been formed to serve the society at large by imparting and disseminating ancient Indian scientific and philosophical knowledge towards attaining unity, peace, prosperity and ultimate wisdom without distinction to caste, creed, colour, community, gender or religion and to enter into any incidental or ancillary activities towards the fulfillment of the above object.

3. Why is the Athirathram needed?
The objective of Athirathram is to promote universal harmony, marked by peace, solidarity, prosperity and spiritual enlightenment, and is regarded as extremely relevant today, with the world witnessing a marked rise in discontentment, violence and strife.

4. Is it open only for the Hindu community?
Athirathram cuts through all barriers – caste, religion, race, colour and sex – making it a true union of humanity as one to invoke the bounty of Universal Energy to promote solidarity and peace.

5. What exactly happens during an Athirathram?
It is believed that the 12-day ritual will help cleanse the atmosphere; purify the soul and mind of all participants and visitors at the event

6. Why is Panjal selected for the Athirathram?
The choice of Panjal as the is in line with geographic and vaasthu principles. The yagashala (where the ceremonies will be performed) is uniquely positioned to imbibe the energy of the sun, which has made Panjal the venue for almost all key yagas held in Kerala in the past.

7. Who will conduct the yagam?

Panjal Athirathram 2011 will be led by Puthillathu Ramanujan Somayajippadu as ‘Yajamanan’ and Dhanyapathanadi as ‘Yajamanapathni.’

8. Can public visit the event?
Yes. The public can visit the event.

9. How can the public partner in the event?
This event calls for an abundance of resources and human endeavour. Public can register as volunteers during the event. Financial contributions for the conduct of the Yagam can be made through cheques, demand draft, or direct bank transfer, in the name of Varthathe Trust, Punjab National Bank, Ottapalam Branch, Account No: 4325000100114294.
