The bathing ghats of Thirunavaya Navamukunda Temple is being readied for the scores of devotees who are expected to be present there for the ‘Prithutharpana’ in Bharatapuzha on Tuesday. Security measures have also been heightened in view of the heavy undercurrent in Bharatapuzha. Special arrangements have also made to avoid congestion.

Devaswom authorities have installed iron nets along the river to prevent people from slipping into the undercurrent. An approximate of Rs 8 lakh has been spent on installing safety measures, which include deployment of latest rescue equipment, at bathing ghat.

Other security measures like experts in fire and disaster management and swimmers have also been appointed. Over 350 volunteers have also been posted to lend a helping hand to the devotees.
Officials have also sent out warnings regarding heavy water flow in the river to the devotees.

“We have made elaborate measures on the banks ahead of the Amavasi. Devotees can offer Bali from the safety of an iron roof that is designed to shelter them from rain,” said V Haridas, executive officer, Thirunavaya Devaswom.

The offering of Vavubhali will be led by 16 priests and will start at 2.30 am on Tuesday. Scores of devotees will take a dip off the Pattambi-Thavanoor coasts.
