VHP Seeks Comprehensive Investigation into Kannur’s History of Violence

published on September 4, 2014

The Viswa Hindu Parishad has sought an in depth inquiry by Central agencies into the burgeoning instances of violence and saga of murder in Kannur.

“It shows total lack of responsibility on the part of police, for not taking steps in maintaining peace in Kannur, with the marauders of the place continuing to indulge in violence even before civil society has recovered from the ghastly murder of RSS karyakartha Manoj. This is quite evident from the instance of a bomb being hurled this afternoon, at the residence of district president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad KO Jayakrishnan, at  Peralassery, Kannur. Perpetrators of these evil deeds should be arrested at the earliest. The possibility of Left wingers, along with terror organizations having deliberately joined hands to conspire and unleash the most heinous attacks on leaders of organizations like Viswa Hindu Parishad, which are completely dedicated to spiritual pursuits, should be seen as a deliberate move in dissolving the land’s peace,” said a press release by VHP.

Seeking inquiry from Central agencies into the matter, “at a time when state government of Kerala and police forces have been a total failure in gauging these beforehand and taking steps in preventing such incidents”, VHP has said that such a move from Central government was vital in reinforcing law and order in the state.

“There has been no efficient move to investigate the numerous instances of strife and murders that have taken place in Kannur hitherto. Also the stance taken by both alternate governments have been that of protecting these perpetrators. By not arresting them and bringing them before law, it can be seen as nothing but a ploy to retain them in society and unleash more instances of violence in society,” said VHP calling for a comprehensive inquiry into the matter hitherto, which will speed up the arrest of the architects of violence.

“If the government does not act, people will be forced to take measures to ensure their own protection,” said a VHP activist.
