Elaborate arrangements for Aluva Sivarathri

Aluva, Feb 24: Elaborate arrangements have been made for holding the famous ‘Aluva Sivarathri’ festival on the sand bed of river Periyar at Aluva. Decoration of the Siva temple on the river bed is nearing completion.

Religious rites and rituals would be organised by the Travancore Devasom Board for the devoties converging on the sand bed for performing ‘Pithru Tharpan’ on Sunday.

Aluva municipality has provided  adequate  lighting arrangements,  taken measures  to manage the crowd.

Apart from this divers of the Indian Navy and Fire Force, first aid units of Aluva municipal hospital, Amritha hospital, ambulances and other facilities have been arranged, official sources said. 

The festival will begin with the ‘Laksharchana’ to the Lord Siva at the dawn of  Feb26 .
