Certain leaders of the Indian Union Muslim League had sent emissaries to ask the accused persons in the Marad riot case, remanded in custody in the district prison here, to withdraw from their move to request for a CBI probe into the case, Koduvally MLA PTA Rahim has said.
Rahim was talking to newsmen after meeting Rafeeq, an accused belonging to Puthiyanagadi, in the prison. Rafeeq had written a letter to Rahim about a move by certain people to influence the accused who had planned to request for a fresh probe into the case.
“Rafeeq told me about the League leaders who sent emissaries to the prison to influence the accused. They are certain responsible functionaries of the Kozhikode district committee of the League. That is all I can say,” said Rahim
