Lucknow, October 19: “The earth cannot produce sufficient food grains till the blood of cow continues to fall on it. The ban on cow slaughter is must for human survival and also to achieve prosperity and get complete health,” said VHP international general secretary Dr Pravin Togadia. He was addressing a massive gathering of gobhaktas assembled at a meeting at Singarnagar Park in Lucknow to welcome the Vishwa Mangal Gou Gram Yatra.

He said there are examples of killing animals, men and even the mother and farther in the 1500 years history of India but there is not even one example of cow slaughter in the history. “But today we see the killing of cow everywhere. By killing the cow we are basically moving towards total destruction and if it continues it will be difficult for the human beings to survive for long,” he warned.

He said since a Muslim becomes unholy by taking the meat of a pig, the killing of pigs has been banned in 44 countries of the world. On the other hand the Hindus worship the cow as mother and even then there is no ban on cow slaughter in this Hindu dominated country. Describing the cow as representative of the Sun on the earth, Dr Togadia said the people of the country could prevent cow slaughter by using the products made of cow dung and urine.

Jyotishpeedhadhishwar Shankaracharya Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati said the cow has to be made a member of the family if we really wish to protect her. He said the prime reason of the killing of the cow and the bulls is mechanisation of the agriculture that has rendered the bulls jobless and return to the organic farming is an answer to it. He said there is gochar land in many states of the country but there is no such land in Uttar Pradesh. He appealed to the state government to earmark gochar land in the state.

Mahamandaleshwar of Juna Akhara Swami Yatindranand said the Hindu always prayed for world welfare. He said the whole world is worried over the declining fertility power of the soil today and If we have to regain the fertility power of the soil we will have to turn to the cow dung and urine.

Namdhari Sant Shri Sarabjit Singh, Mahant of Mankamneshwar temple Mahant Divyagiri, national convener of the Yatra Shri KEN Raghwan also addressed the gathering. National secretary of the Yatra Samiti Shri Shankarlal administed the oath of cow protection to the gobhaktas at the function. Prior to it, the Yatra received a grand welcome with flowers when it entered the state capital.
