Ashtanga Hridayam CD released

KOCHI: Ashtanga Hridayam, the ancient text of ayurveda, is now available in CD format. The audio version of Ashtanga Hridayam text was released at the 3rd Ashtanga Hridayam Sathram held recently at Thiruvalla.

In Kerala, Ashtanga Hridayam is the basic text followed by ayurveda practioners. The CD is brought out by Aryavaidyan AMG Namboothiri, 70, who did his ayurveda course from Kottakkal Ayurveda College during 1956-’60. He also learnt the text from Aryavaidyan VP Nambeesan, an eminent scholar of that time.

Soon he joined Arya Vaidya Pharmacy, Coimbatore, and continued his practice until 1991 with its branches.

The CD can be used by students for self-learning and byhearting using MP3 players. Practicing ayurveda physicians can use this for regular listening and relearning.
