Narayaneeya sapthaham at Guruvayur concludes

GURUVAYUR: The 421st annual day of Narayaneeyam will be celebrated at Sree Krishna temple here on Friday.

The Narayaneeya Sapthaham held in connection with the celebrations concluded here on Thursday. A sampoorna Narayaneeyam recitation will be held at the Devotional Hall inside the temple on Friday.

It was on the Malayalam month Vrischikam 28 that Melpathur Narayana Bhattathiri had performed the samarpanam of Narayaneeyam at the feet of Sree Guruvayurappan 421 years ago. A scholars’ meet will be held in the afternoon which will be inaugurated by Mahakavi Akkitham.

A cultural meeting on Narayaneeya dinam will be held at Melpathur auditorium and the meet will be inaugurated by poet O N V Kurup.

CD RELEASE: A CD of sampoorna Narayaneeya sapthaham by Bhagavatha acharyan Venmani Krishnan Namboothiri was released at Narayanalayam here on Thursday.

Temple thantri Chennas Raman Namboothiripad released the CD by presenting the first copy to Bhagavatha acharyan Anjam Krishnan Namboothiri. The CD has been produced and released by Manorama Music in the heritage series.

ELEPHANT OFFERED: An elephant was offered to Lord Guruvayurappa at the Sree Kishna temple here on Thursday. The young tusker of devaswom, Guruvayur Sreekrishnan was used for symbolic performance of the ritual.

A Thiruvanathapuram-based devotee Narayanan Kutty has remitted Rs 5 lakhs with the Devaswom to perform the symbolic offering.

Temple melsanthi Ezhikkode Satheesan Namboothiri preformed the ritual in the presence of temple ooralan Mallisery Parameswaran Namboothirpad, Devaswom Chairman Thottathil Raveendran, Administrator V Ratheesan and Deputy Administrator R Narayanan.

INAUGURATION: The formal samarpanam and inauguration of the newly installed generator at the devaswom will be held on Friday morning. The generator was offered by TVS Lucas.
