Pettathullal held with devotion
KOTTAYAM: Two traditional groups of Sabarimala pilgrims– Ambalappuzha and Alangad teams–performed Pettathullal with devotion at Erumeli, marking the final phase of annual pilgrim season.
The Ambalappuzha team began the dance offering after sighting Krishna Parunthu(eagle) in the sky followed by Alangad team after sighting a star in the daylight.
The Ambalappuzha team led by Kalathil Chandrasekhara Pillai danced its way from Petta Sri Dharmasastha temple to Vavar palli (Nainar Mosque) to pay reverence to lord Ayyappa’s muslim lieutenant, Vavar.
The team later danced its way to Erumeli Sri Dharmasastha temple.
The teams would participate in the Pampa Vilakku celebrations and the feast and also Makaravilakku celebrations at Sannidhanam before their return.
