Modi offers prayer at Guruvayur temple
GURUVAYUR: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi offered worship at the famed Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple here this morning.
He also performed the ‘thulabharam’ ritual with lotus and ‘kadali’ fruit (a variety of plantain).
‘Thulabharam’ is the most important offering to Lord Guruvayurappan, in which the devotee, performing it, sits in one of the scales of a balance with the article being offered put in the other one in matching weight.
Security had been tightened in and around the temple in view of his visit since yesterday.
On his arrival at the temple town last night, the BJP leader was received by Devaswom Administration Officer V Ratheesan and senior temple officials.
He was presented with a multi-colour picture of Lord Guruvayurappan, the presiding deity of the ancient shrine.
