Grand start to Revathi Pattathanam

KOZHIKODE: This year’s edition of Revathi Pattathanam, an annual assembly of scholars held since ancient times, was officially kick started on Sunday with Zamorin PKS Raja presenting the ritual bag of silver coins to Vedic Scholar Thamaranalloor Purushothaman Bhattathiri at Tali Temple here.


As per the tradition, the ritual bag is presented to the scholar elected by Koodallur Namboothirippadu.

The celebrations of Revathi Pattathanam are also being held at the Guruvayoorappan hall in the Zamorin Higher Secondary school here.

A colourful procession, accompanied by panchavadyam, started from Thali temple at 9.30 a m and the procession concluded at Pattathana sala set at Guruvayurappan hall.

Samoothiri Raja honoured vedic scholar Siva Rama Vadhyar by preseting a citation to the scholar during the function which was inaugurated by Devaswom Minister Kadannappalli Ramachandran and chaired by Sreemanavedan Samoothirippadu.

Chief of Sreeramasramam Math Swaprabhananda Swamikal delivered the key note address. Rigveda Samhitha by K P C Narayanan Bhatathirippadu and one of his students was also organised as part of the celebrations.

A ‘Vakyartha Sadassu’ by Dr Mahabaleswar P Bhat of Rashtreeya Samskritha Samsthan, Deemed University Sringeri, Dr E Rajan from Rashtreeya Samskritha Samsthan, Gurvayur Centre and Dr E Prakash, principal of Kozhikode Adarsha Vidya Peeth participated in the ‘Vakyartha Sadas’. District Collector Dr P B Saleem will inaugurate the closing ceremony of Revathi Pattathanam celebrations on November 7 in which Dr Sudha Krishanunni and party will perform a dance fusion
