62nd Ranni Hindu meet begins
PATHANAMTHITTA: The eight-day 62nd Ranni Hindu meet will begins at Sree Dharma Sastha Nagar on the sand-bed of Pampa near the bridge in Ranni town today.
Doyen of Carnatic music and noted music director V Dakshinamurthy will inaugurate the meet at 4 pm. Justice K Narayana Kurup will preside over the function. Head of Kottayam Geethamandira Ashramam Swami Vedananda Saraswathi will deliver the benedictory address.
High Court senior lawyer Govind K Bharathan will deliver the key-note address. President of Ranni Taluk Haindava Seva Samithi, the organisers of the meet, P N Neelakandan Nampoothiri will welcome the gathering. Organising secretary Rajesh Anamadom will propose a vote of thanks.
The important sessions at the meet include debate on Sabarimala pilgrimage on February 18, cultural meeting on February 19 Bhagavad Gita meet on February 20 and Ayyappa Dharma meet on February 21.
The meet will conclude with the valedictory meet at 4.30 pm on February 24 which will be inaugurated by M P Veerendrakumar MP. Former Chief Secretary R Ramachandran Nair will preside over the function. Raju Abraham MLA, will offer felicitations.
Amritanandamayi Mutt general secretary Swami Poornamritanandapuri will lead the sarvaiswarya pooja at 6 pm.
Jyothiprayana procession: The procession carrying the jyothi, to be lighted at the traditional lamp at the Hindu meet nagar, was taken out from Perunad Sree Dharma Sastha temple at 8 am on Saturday.
