Noted film directors to attend Tapasya meet

Widely-known film directors Rosshan Andrews, Siddique and KG George will participate in the discussion on films, Movies 2006, during the 30 th anniversary celebrations of the Tapasya Cultural centre at Trippunithura on Feb 24 and 25.


 


 


Talking to reporters, leaders of Tapasya said that the organisation is working in close quarters with Delhi based Samskar Bharathi.


 


The Durgadatta award for the outstanding young writer in Malayalam will be presented to John Ditto during the celebrations. Mahakavi Akkitham too will be honoured during the two day meet.


 


John Ditto’s compilation of poems was selected for the award by a jury consisting of Prof Thuravoor Vishwambaran, S Raameshan Nair, AM Unnikrishnan and PP Sreedharanunni.


 


District Collector of Cochin, APM Mohammed Hanish will hoist the flag on Feb 24. The painting exhibition will be inaugurated by T Kaladharan.


 


Writer and critic Asha Menon will inaugurate the Tapasya conference in a meeting in which organisation president Thuravoor Vishvambaran will preside.


 


Samskar Bahrathi chairman Raj Dutt will inaugurate the discussion. KG George will preside over the function. Ravindar and R Balakrishnan among others will participate.


 


As part of the cultural programmes, Sudheer Kadalundi, who had earned a place in the Guiness Book World Records for his Tabla performance will lead the fusion music and Suchitra Vishweshwaran will present the Narayaneeyam – Mohiniyattom.


 


R Hari will deliver the Key note address on First war of Independence. It will be followed by performance of arts.


 


A discussion on Malayalam novels, which is organised as part of the programme will be inaugurated by E Vasu. Noted writers, KR Meera, Subash Chandran, AM Unnikrishnan, MV Benny among others will take part in the discussion.


 


As part of the concluding session, Padayani will be performed at the Layam Grounds.
