2000 year old Siva Linga unearthed from Kodungallur

Kodungallur: State Archaeology Department confirms the age of Huge Siva Linga unearthed from Thrikkannamathilakam near Shantipuram as 2000 years old.

Siva Ling of Five Feet tall and 45 inches circumference is one of the rarest , were worshipped by Shiva Bhakthas known as Nayanaranmar. Historically Thrikkanamathilakam was a centre of Shavite Hindus . Elenkovadical in his Tamil epic Chillapathikaranm had various references to Nayanaranmar living in Thrikkanamathilakam near Kodunallur. The Temples in the area were destroyed by the Fanatic Islamic invader Tippu Sultan.

At present the Siva Linga is kept in Mathilakam Police Station as directed by the court. Hindu organisations are trying to install the Siva Linga in a suitable place for worship.In between Guru Baba Ashram in Guruvayur also came forward to take over this historical Siva Linga.
