1857 struggle is not the 1st freedom struggle – Parameshwarji

via HK Correspondent published on May 15, 2007

THRISSUR : Addressing a mammoth public gathering organized in connection with the valedictory function of 1st year OTC, Bharateeya Vichara Kendram Director P. Parameshwarji stated that 1857 struggle was not the 1st freedom struggle. It is some vested interests which are behind the propaganda that it was the 1st freedom struggle. They are trying to belittle the contributions and roles of Veluthampi Dalava, Pazhassi Raja, Shivaji and  Rana Pratap. It is the part of an orchestrated effort to humiliate the national values. The same vested interests work overtime behind the move to demolish Rama Sethu, a symbol of Rama age. Sachar Commission Reports are going to be implemented to marginalise the Hindu interests for the sake for minority vote bankism. In Kerala, 12 districts are expected to be declared minority districts. These are all again the paths leading to further Pakistans. Nationalist forces are getting stronger; the same time separatist forces are growing too ! UP election results are a pointer to the carefully rehearsed plan to make the society a federation of different castes.

United States is formulating Bharath’s policies. We are losing our own discretionary powers with respect  to freedom of policy, strategy, etc. Gandhiji kept on saying that every reform should be able to bring the welfare to the poorer class. Development and prosperity for the upper class section is nothing but cosmetic revolution. Single bloom cannot bring a spring. Villagers are still starving.

Dr. Raveendran Pillai presided and C.K. Radhakrishnan proposed vote of thanks.
