Chottanikkara:  An estimated 1.5 lakh devotees, mostly women, have had the “Makam Darshan” of Chottanikkara Bhagavati today.

Serpentine queues started forming right from 3 A.M and the Devotees waited there for long hours under the scorching sun till the sanctum sanctorum was opened for darshan at 2 P.M and till 9 P.M. Those who were in the queue since early morning were provided with butter-milk, boiled water and banana, Mr P Rajendra Prasad, Executive Officer, Chottanikkara  Devaswom told HK.

He said that an estimated 1.5 lakh devotees had the darshan of Chottanikkara  Amma on this auspicious day. About 750 police personnel including officers were there to control the crowd, in addition to 150 volunteers of Temple advisory Samiti and Sai Seva Samiti.

With the blessings of the Bhagavathy, the function concluded without any untoward incident, he said.

It is the belief that having the Darsham of Chottanikkara Amma once in a year on this “Makam” day would protract the married life of the devotees.
