Charge sheet filed by NIA, Within months after taking over probe from State Police

KOCHI: Within Months after taking charge of 2006 Kozhikode Twin blast case, NIA Today filed the Charge sheet.

The charge sheet was filed before CBI Special Court Judge S Vijayakumar. Close associate of Abdul Nasser Madni and LeT’s south Indian commandent Thadiyantavidae Nazir is the first accused. Mohammad Azhar, Abdul Halim, Shammi Firoz, K P Yusuf and Chettipadi Yusuf are the other accused. The sixth accused, Fayaz, had been killed in an encounter with security forces in Kashmir.

The accused have been charge sheeted under various IPC sections including sect 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 153 (A)(promoting enmity between different groups) and Sect 16 (1), Sect 18, 23 of Unlawful Assembly Prevention Act, 1967 and sect 3,4,5 of Explosive Substances Act. The whole investigation under Kerala Police and Crime Branch were toppled by the State Home Ministry itself and the State Police were groping in the dark.

The influence of Abdul Nasser Madni over top leaders of CPM was deterrent in the zero progress made by State Police in this investigation. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today filed the charge sheet in the 2006 Kozhikode twin blast case, listing suspected LeT militant T Nazeer as the first accused.
