PATHANAMTHITTA: The Yogakshema Sabha has threatened to launch agitation against the Travancore Devaswom Board for the neglect and negative attitude towards temple priests.

Yogakshema Sabha president Akeeramon Kalidasa Bhattathiri said that the TDB, over the years, was lukewarm in its attitude to the working conditions and the problems of the archakas.

“The complete disregard of the genuine demands of temple priests should be a matter of deep concern among the community,” Bhattathiri said. The Yogakshema Sabha urged the TDB to initiate immediate steps to revise the grade and pay-scales of temple priests on par with the administrative officer/sub-group officer levels. He said that the grade and the pay-scales of priests were on par with the fourth class employees of the temples.

He said that if the anomalies and discriminatory attitudes were not immediately looked into, the Sabha would be forced to go for direct action, including agitation.
