VHP aiming to consolidate Hindu votes in State

KOCHI: Where the BJP has failed to make a mark, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is contemplating to consolidate the Hindu votes in Kerala by trying to bring the Hindus together for a common cause.

  For years, the BJP has been yearning to register a victory in the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls in Kerala but the 56.20 percent Hindus (according to Census 2001)have so far let down its aspirations to open the account in the state. “Hindus have so far not come together for any common cause whether political or apolitical.

 The VHP will bring them together for a common cause and make a remarkable change in the state,” VHP international president Ashok Singhal told Express.

 He said it would herald a new beginning and 2011 will be a major watershed in the Indian political scenario.

 “We have taken up the programme Hanuman Sakthi Jagran in Kerala to bring the Hindus on a single platform irrespective of their caste or creed. When the time comes, the Hindus will assert their demands,” Ashok Singhal said.

 Singhal said: “At present, we are aiming to unite the Hindus to put pressure on Parliament to enact an Act for constructing a temple at Ram Janmabhumi. Once this happens, we will start asserting for other issues. The disintegration of Hindu votes will diminish in the coming years,” Ashok    Singhal said.
