Global Energy Parliament in Thiruvananthapuram
The first annual meeting of the ‘Global Energy Parliament’ is being organized in
Thiruvananthapuram on 12-14 November.
Energy is everywhere in the universe. The macroscopic world of planets and stars is in constant motion. Similarly, the microscopic world of atoms, which constitute matter, and their subatomic constituents are always moving, vibrating with unimaginable rapidness and in an infinite variety of patterns. Without energy, there is no movement, there is no Universe.
Until the early twentieth century, the mechanical theory of Newton dominated, which stated that the world was composed of solid and indivisible particles. Since then, experimental research on the atom conducted by Max Planck, Albert Einstein, Louis de Broglie, Niels Bohr and Werner Heisenberg have led to groundbreaking discoveries, giving birth to quantum theory, the basis of modern physics. The Heisenberg “Uncertainty Principle” has shown that the position and velocity of particles cannot be defined at the same time, proving that matter does not exist with certainty in a defined area, but provides only probabilities. Since then, science has proved that the phenomenon behind probability is the certainty of the energy, an undividable structure which is inherent in all matter and joins all matter. Instead of particles, physicists are now talking about energy manifested in different forms.
The whole universe appears as a dynamical tissue of undividable energy structures.
– Fritjof Capra, Physicist and Systems Theorist
Many scientists have proved that the observer (subject) affects the object being viewed. We can now ask in which proportion the subject is present in the reality of an object and vice versa. Recent experiments have highlighted the existing dialogue between subject and object, which reveals the fundamental unity of the universe. It appears that humans do not observe the world in an independent manner, but are constantly taking part in its evolution, throughout actions, thoughts and emotions, in the same way that one is influenced by one’s environment.
The Global Energy Parliament (GEP) proposes to bring together scientists, leaders and social activists under a common umbrella to usher in a new world where every human being will act as the indivisible part of the rest of this universe. Using a unified and comprehensive definition of energy, the GEP will evolve programmes for human action to find practical solutions for equilibrating the individual, society, nature and the universe.
