Marxists torch BJP office

The BJP’s panchayat committee office at Kayanna near Perambra in Kerala’s Kozhikode district was set on fire early Tuesday morning allegedly by CPI(M) activists. The office was torched amidst the tension prevailing between the two parties in the area since Monday. Protesting against the attack, BJP observed a hartal in Kayanna on Tuesday. The area had faced a hartal called by the CPI(M) in protest against an attack on one of their workers on Monday. Police personnel were deployed in large numbers in the area as tension prevailed.
