BJP activist hand chopped off in Kayamkulam
ALAPPUZHA: A group of unidentified persons on Friday barged into a house at Valliyazhikkal in Kayamkulam with lethal weapons and chopped off the left hand of a person.
The police said that the incident occurred around 3.30 pm when the assailants came in an autorickshaw and barged into the house.
They attacked the person identified as Ponnumon, 38, of Altharaveedu.
Ponnumon is said to be a BJP activist. He also suffered serious head injuries.
After the incident, the attackers escaped from the scene. Tense situation prevailed at the spot as the goons threatened and attacked the nearby residents who came to the rescue of Ponnumon, who was immediately rushed to Specialists’ Hospital in Kochi. The police have launched a manhunt for the assailants.
