Highcourt to rescue Guruvayuappan’s Cows

via R Sajan published on October 2, 2011

Following shocking reports about the deplorable conditions in which cows are kept in the Guruvayoor Temple Gokulam at Vengad, Malappuram; the Kerala High Court has decided to appoint an  Advocate Commission to verify and report on the issue.

The Court took up the matter as suo moto. The Gokulam at Vengad is owned by the Guruvayoor Devaswam Board to keep the cows offered to Guruvayoorappan as Vazhipaadu by devotees.

These cows are reportedly being maintained in unhealthy and unhygienic conditions though they are special to Lord Sreekrishna. Many die annually due to lack of care.
