Neyyattinkara by-poll – O. Rajagopal will become the BJP Candidate

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former Union Minister O. Rajagopal will be contesting in the Neyyattinkara by-election as a BJP candidate. The BJP has not yet officially declared the candidature of Rajagopal. The decision to field Rajagopal was unanimously taken at the party’s State Committee meeting, delegates’ meeting, and election committee on Thursday.

CPI (M) fielded F Lawrence a local leader while UDF will support Selvaraj who ditched CPM and resigned his position as Neyattinkara MLA. In the last election Selvaraj defeated congress candidate Thampanorr Ravi with a mere margin of 6702 votes. Last time BJP Candidate Athiyannur Srikumar bagged 6.03% of total votes.
