Setting the Rumour Mills Spinning against Amrithanandamayi Math: Kummanam.

published on September 11, 2012

The Hindu Aikya Vedi has condemned the recent spate of rumours that have been hurled at Mata Amrithanandamayi Math and its allied institutions. “This is a deliberate malicious propaganda aimed at creating gross misunderstanding amidst the general public,” observed Hindu Aikya Vedi General Secretary Kummanam Rajashekharan.

Pointing out to the recent episode involving Satnam Singh Mann hailing from Bihar, based on which self proclaimed secularists and progressive leaders have issued defamatory proclamations, Kummanam said they stand contradictory to truth.“When Satnam Singh was taken into custody from the maddh by Karunagappilly police and when he was lodged into Kollam sub-jail, he was subject to medical check up. Nowhere in the report is it stated that he suffered injuries. Even his brother, who arrived at the scene had clarified that there were no injuries or marks on his body. In spite of this being the truth, it is being deliberately twisted to make it appear that the death was caused by the way he was handled in the maddh and
thereby defame the institution.  This is absolutely deplorable,” said Kummanam.

“The society is deeply interested in knowing who Satnam Singh is, where he wandered around, after leaving his home, who all he was in touch with, the reason behind his unruly behavior in the maddhom. The special Crime Branch team that is investigating into the matter must include these aspects as part of their investigation. Those who spin rumours have
only one motto- swerve the case off its right track. The investigation must be unbiased, independent and based on truth alone and must focus on bringing out facts alone,” stated Kummanam.
