DYFI getting saffronised, laments CPM leader

published on December 3, 2012

CPM state committee member M V Jayarajan today admonished DYFI, the youth wing of the party for getting too much involved in religious activities.

While taking a party class for DYFI men in Kannur on Monday, Jayarajan pointed out that many DYFI activists today wear saffron dhotis like RSS men. “In that sense, DYFI has been saffronised”, he added.

Jayarajan lamented that by deviating from party line, many DYFI comrades are falling into ‘trap’ set by Sangh parivar organizations. Some DYFI activists are thinking what is wrong in giving reception to Sabarimala pilgrims. The party wanted to prevent religious places of worship from falling into the hands of fundamentalist forces. That is why CPM allowed party sympathizers to get involved in the activities of temples. “But many of them later severed party link and became fully involved in such activities. Even party members are keen to get involved in matters of faith,” he continued.

Jayarajan also complained that only a minuscule minority reads articles published in party organ Deshabhimani, on various subjects. The CPM leader also made some interesting observations regarding Sree Narayana Guru, saying that if he was alive today, Guru would have been a polit bureau member of the party.
