IUML ministers seem to be intent on painting the state’s education ‘green’. Close on the heels of green boards replacing black boards, there seems to be yet another order calling for schools to be painted green. All this, at a time, when most government schools lack basic amenities and infra structure.

One school that displays the latest decree issued by Muslim League’s education minister is Higher Secondary School, Marathamkode, Erumappetti, in Thrissur district- the school walls have been painted green. There has been wide spread protests against the move of school authorities.

Marathamkode Higher Secondary School stands close to Kunnamkulam- Wadakkanchery highway. The school was on its way towards basic maintenance, when authorities decided to give whole hearted support to the orders passed by the education minister and get the entire structure painted green. The school PTA has a majority of those who have their affiliation towards Muslim League.

The school, having a strength of 320 students in high school and 120 students in plus two section, is said to be lacking in most basic amenities. It is at this juncture that funds have been used for catering to whims and fancies of the Muslim League ministers and getting the building painted in a special shade of green.
