SIMI Camp Case: NIA Court to Frame Charges.
Though there are several NIA cases pending, the court decided to conduct the trial of the Panayikulam SIMI camp case as all the accused in the case are available now. Last month, Shaduly alias Haris Abdul Karim, a native of Erattupetta, and Mohammad Ansar alias Siddique Abdul, hailing from Kunjikkara near Aluva were brought from Ahmedabad Central Prison for starting the trial.
Binanipuram Sub Inspector K N Rajesh had received a tip-off on August 15, 2006, about a secret meeting of SIMI at an auditorium at Panayikulam in Paravur taluk. On visiting the spot, he found that there were 17 persons in the room and some of them were making inflammatory speeches. Seditious books and pamphlets were also seized from the spot.
Lhari Dorgee Latoo, Superintendent of Police, NIA, New Delhi, filed the chargesheet against the 17 persons in the case in 2010.
