Kerala Kalamandalam to Train Cops in Traditional Art Forms.

Taking a cue, the Kerala Kalamandalam is all set to impart training in various traditional art forms to civil police officers and senior police officers in the state during their training period in the Kerala Police Academy.
Kalamandalam Vice-Chancellor P N Suresh told ‘Express’ that “we gave a detailed proposal in this regard to Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala during his visit to Kalamandalam and he assured us that the Ministry would give all possible help to Kalamandalam to make it a reality”.
The Kalamandalam will impart awareness on various art forms to them and this will help them release their pent-up tension that they accumulate during work, he said.
Kalamandalam Registrar K K Sundreshan said the Home Minister was very enthusiastic to start the project at the earliest, as dabbling in arts is fun as well as a source of knowledge and a long-lasting way to combat stress.
The training modalities and details of course training will be chalked out after a department-level meeting in this regard. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala told ‘Express’: “I have received a proposal in this regard and would hold a meeting with senior officials at the Kerala Police Academy head office on Friday night.
Based on the suggestion of police officials, the project will be implemented”. The Home Department has already imparted training in Chenda and Kathakali to convicts lodged in jails.
