‘Witch Hunt’ in Education Department

published on July 3, 2014

Thiruvananthapuram: State Vice President of BJP, PM Velayudhan has sought “an indepth inquiry” into what he terms as “sudden and deliberate transfer of headmasters and other officials, without any prior notification”. Velayudhan has alleged conspiracy behind the move and has sought constituting of a special inquiry team to look into the matter.

Two headmasters have been deliberately transferred by the government after succumbing to the pressures exerted by Muslim League. The transfer of KR Pavithran (Govt Higher Secondary School, South Ezhipuram) and MK Seetha (Govt Higher Secondary School, Chowara )are classic examples of the same.

The brain behind Pavithran’s transfer is Subaida, wife of Muneer’s gunman, who happens to be a teacher as well. In fact the school had earned the distinction of being under the best five schools of the state, under Pavithran.

KM Seetha was transferred the minute she pointed out discrepancies in funds set aside for school construction purposes. To make matters worse, there has been intervention from PTA president, Block panchayat member and the MLA. There is witch hunting by the education department regarding those who come under the section of SC/ ST,alleged Velayudhan, adding that lumpsome grants meant for students, scholarships etc are yet to be obtained.

The BJP has sought intervention from the Chief Minister and reinstating of the two headmasters who have been transferred.
