Suspicious Activity in Christian Orphanage: 83 Inmates Missing.

83 inmates of the controversial orphanage at Kummanchira are suspected to be missing, under mysterious circumstances. According to reports, the orphanage at 100 inmates in 2011, when the commission inspected the orphanage. However, three months back, an inquiry conducted showed the inmate number as a meager 17. Orphanage owner Thomas has been the prime suspect in a case regarding the death of one of the inmates in the orphanage.

The report comes after a detailed inquiry by Human Rights Commission, which had placed the orphanage under scrutiny for three months. The commission had sought information regarding the whereabouts of the missing children in three months. Thomas however failed to do so even after lapse of the specified time.

According to reports from Janmabhumi, CI of Pala has begun investigations, after filing a ‘man missing’ case. Thomas is also accused of having assaulted media men sometime back, in connection with the mysterious death of the orphanage inmate.
