Kerala Education Sector has Surrendered to Appeasement of Minority Politics: Vichara Kendram

published on August 19, 2014
The Bharatiya Vichara Kendram has categorically stated that the state government of Kerala has wholeheartedly surrendered the education sector towards the appeasement of caste and religious politics. Every single movement in this direction, right from sanctioning of extra batches for Plus Two till appointment of Vice Chancellors in universities is now a monopoly of these manipulative forces.

“The accepting of a mammoth amount as bribe in connection with the sanctioning of Plus Two batches and its subsequent withdrawal, following the intervention of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has to be considered on a serious note. It is the bigwigs of Muslim League, who have been involved in the matter. What is happening currently will go down in history as an instance of colossal bribe, never witnessed before in the sector of education,” observed BVK at a recently held meet.

Asserting that the enormity of the offense can easily be gauged, with the intervention of the Chief Minister himself, to cover the matter up, BVK stated that “the appointment of covetable and esteemed posts like those of Vice Chancellors is now a mere game in the hands of those with ulterior motives. These appointments are executing, flouting the very norms of specified by UGC. The government is taking steps that will ensure Kerala’s downfall in the educational field, where higher education is concerned. There should be a comprehensive inquiry into the granting of permission to aided college under various universities. This same swashraya lobby is now the self appointed body for selecting and controlling Vice Chancellors. Kerala has stood witness to the first ever episode in history, when a government appointed VC has been dismissed by the same administrative forces. This is a typical example when government forces had to bow before vested interests. In fact, Syndicate, Board of Studies etc do not have a focus on the expansion of the university. Instead they are now mills that churn solely for catering to communal politics,” opined BVK.

Stressing the need for a joint effort in surging ahead to save the education sector of Kerala, from various commercial interest, the BVK said that education experts, along with Kerala’s cultural society and the larger section of intellectual society should stand together to tackle the matter.
