Debarring Government Employees from Joining Caste- Religious Organizations is Denial of Constitutional Rights: Kummanam Rajashekharan
“Every citizen has the right to be part of and work for caste- religious organizations. Freedom of religious rights and right to practice has been bestowed on citizens by Indian Constitution. By passing such a decree, the state government is denying constitutional rights to government employees. Caste-religious organizations formed in Kerala by Hindu groups are lofty social organizations and have contributed in abundance towards the social upliftment and reformation of the state. It is therefore impossible to justify and abide by the state government decree, which calls for deterrence from these organizations by those working in government offices,†said Kummanam Rajashekharan adding that government employees, who have a social consciousness and cultural commitment, are part of such organizations so that they can be of service to people and the society.
“Such participation, in no way, hinders their official duties. Instead, it only serves to strengthen their work,†he said, seeking a revision of the new decree passed by the state government.
