Pathanapuram: An ancient tribal temple, comprising of stone lamps, Shivalingas and compound wall, venerated by Adivasis and their family members since ages has been dismantled completely by state revenue department. The move comes after a fabricated petition was submitted to the Collector about the Adivasis having encroached into the land.
Situated in Kurottumala, Piravanthoor grama panchayat in Pathanapuram, the temple was part of an eighty five cent plot. Having executed the blasphemous deed, armed with bulldozers and heavy metal tools, officers of the revenue department proceeded to have an altercation with the Adivasis who had gathered in protest.
The Hindu Aikya Vedi and BJP have alleged that primitive forms of Adivasi worship which has been going on in Madan Kavu, since several years, is nothing but a politically motivated move. A large contingent of police personnel have been stationed in the area to contain any untoward incident that might occur.
