Oommen Chandy sabotage 15 crore Bargate probe; to protect K M Maani : V Muraleedharan

published on November 5, 2014

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is sparing no efforts in trying to sabotage the allegations leveled against state finance minister KM Mani, in connection with the — scam, said state BJP president V Muraleedharan. He said that if an inquiry is conducted, the involvement of many ministers of the Oommen Chandy ministry will come to light.

“The information gathered is that bar owners had collected an approximate of 15 crore rupees, to be handed over to ministers. Kerala Congress leader PC George has also sought to know the names of those ministers who have received the money, other than Mani. Once an inquiry is conducted, the Oommen Chandy ministry will stand questionable. Hence the swooping down of the Chief Minisgter himself on to the scene,” said Muraleedharan.

Alleging that the Chief Minister and his cabinet members have given lucratives to Biju Ramesan and pressurized him to take a stand congenial for them and thereby sabotage the case, Muraleedharan said that a comprehensive inquiry should be called for.

“The mammoth sharks will be ensnared. The CPM has also lent its support to Congress to get the case sabotaged,” said Muraleedharan.

“A CPM leader has openly stated the lack of trust in handing over the case to CBI. This is being said at a time when when everyone knows that an investigation by the agency in Kerala will not yield any result. The plan is to beguile people under the masquerade of vigilance inquiry,” said Muraleedharan adding that the finance minister should submit his resignation and face inquiry.

The state BJP president also pointed out that “it was when the scam was at its zenith that the controversy of ‘Kiss of Love’ sprung up. By shifting focus to this issue, the government plans to trivialize the bar scam.”
