Kochi: According to the latest reports from a leading media house, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has made direct demand for money, in the controversial solar scam. The testimonial was submitted before the solar commission by MK Kuruvila. The testimonial was given by Kuruvila on 14 November.

IndiaVision which claims to have obtained a firsthand copy of the testimonial by Kuruvila, states that “the testimonial states that Chief Minister has asked for 25% of the subsidy that the project would receive. A project that is worth four thousand crores would receive a 40% central Govt. subsidy on it. The Chief Minister is said to have staked a claim on 25% of the specified 40%.

The report further states that the meeting which took place on 11 October 2012 in Cliff House lasted for around 45 minutes and was arranged by a relative of the Chief Minister Kunju Illampalli. The report further states that “the Chief Minister sought another meet the following day as well, which the complainant refused as he was in Bangalore. A call was made in the phone number given by the Chief Minister, which was answered by his daughter.”

According to the testimonial, the Chief Minister’s daughter gave him a concession of 20% “as he was a Christian”. “Father has stated everything. You need give only 20% commission as you are a Christian. Later, when trouble started brewing up, even though a complaint was registered with the Chief Minister, there was no follow up on the matter.”

The testimonial further alleges that “Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan made it clear that a case cannot be registered as the Chief Minister had a personal interest in the same. This was supported by IG Padmakumar, as the Chief Minister was allegedly nurturing plans to promote him to the rank of ADGP.”

Kuruvila is said to have stated further that he is “prepared for a lie detection test” and has sought the same for the Chief Minister’s relative Andrews, Diljith and Binu.
