Kerala Government Adopts Negligent Attitude towards Family of Martyred Jawan

Pathanamthitta: The state government has reportedly adopted a negligent attitude towards the family of S Sahadevan, a martyred Jawan. Sahadevan, a CRPF Jawan was martyred on 19 February 1999 in Barahmulla, JK in a deadly combat with terrorists. A native of Pallikkal, Adoor his family continues facing heinous disregard from the state government.

According to the land’s laws, dependants of deceased CRPF martyrs are eligible for state government posts. This however remains elusive to Sahadevan’s son Abhidev, to this very day. The state Sainik Welfare department has taken the stand that dependants cannot be granted any appointment, even though the matter as reiterated by central government.

Sahadevan’s case conforms to all the criteria specified for conferring an appointment in state government services. In spite of this, discrimination continues to hound the family of this martyr ho was awarded the President’s medal for gallantry.
